Are You The Right Candidate For Hair Transplant?
You are the right candidate for hair transplant if you are facing any of the following issues:
- Pattern Hair loss,
- non patterned hair loss,
- high forehead or receding hairlines in females,
- burnt scalp cases with hair loss,
- Hair loss after child birth,
- Stress related hair loss,
- Telephone effluvium,
- Traction alopecia,
Studies show two-thirds of men are likely to experience hair thinning or baldness by age 35. Most of them experience pattern baldness caused by genetics, while others develop temporary hair loss due to medical issues like thyroid problems, cancer, or anemia.
Whatever the cause, male hair transplantation in Dubai has become the ultimate solution for men who want to minimize hair loss and regain their hair. At the clinic, Dr. Farooque performs a thorough assessment of the donor area to determine how to perform the transplantation.
This is because males experience different types of pattern baldness. A scale is used to determine areas of bald spots appearing at the temple and the crown and well as areas that have receding hair.
The scale starts at one (means a head full of hair) and goes all the way to number seven, which indicates significant hair loss. If the hair loss is between 3 and 6, the head has enough hair to perform hair transplantation.
The patient may need multiple sessions depending on his condition, with 1000-4000 hair follicles transplanted per session. The procedure takes a few hours, and patients should expect to see results within three months.
Exclusive Hair Transplant For Women
Women can choose Fue, FUT or Hybrid Hair transplant to restore their natural hairline and get rid of bald patches. They can choose FUT, whereby a strip of scalp at the back of the head removed and used to fill bald patches. The strip is divided into hundreds of tiny grafts, each with a few hair implanted into a slit in the scalp created using a needle or a blade. Women can also opt for FUE hair transplant in Dubai. The technique is used to remove hair one by one and places them into the balding area. Dr Ahsen Farooque also uses a hybrid technique for optimum results.
Studies show only a small percentage (2-5%) of women are candidates for hair transplant procedures. They include:
- Those who have developed hair loss caused by traction alopecia
- Women with pattern baldness, i.e., those with vertex thinning, hairline recession, and the donor area is not affected by androgenetic alopecia
- Women with alopecia marginalis, a similar condition to traction alopecia
- Women who have had plastic or cosmetic surgery and are concerned about developing hair loss around the incision sites
· Those who have developed hair loss due to trauma in the form of burns, and scarring from accidents
Hairline Construction with Hair Transplant
The hairline is the most visible part of an individual head. Sadly, most people are prone to hair loss from the frontline in their late 30s. Hairline construction has proved an effective method of reconstructing such hairlines as it facilitates the regeneration of hair roots.
The hairline design is applied to allow a shift of the hair roots, so the patient gets a head full of hair. It requires a surgeon who has expertise in performing the procedure, and Dr. Farooque’s work already speaks for him.
The doctor begins with a mandatory consultation to define the patient’s facial appearance and looks because patients have varying looks and needs. He then makes the most suitable hairline for the patient’s facial structure, gender, and expectations. The hairline usually follows the direction most suitable for natural hair growth.
The doctor then embarks on the surgical procedure, which involves advancing the frontal hairline based on variables like the scalp laxity, pre-operative hairline height, and the patient’s preference. The procedure can be summarized in five steps:
- Harvesting the hair roots
- Slitting job
- Creating your preferred hairline design
- Dissecting the hair roots
- Implanting the hair on the bald area of the scalp
Crown Coverage with Hair Transplant
We also provide hair transplantation on men who have lost hair on the crown in isolation or combination with other regions of the scalp. Crown hair transplant in Dubai is the most technically demanding hair restoration procedure, because extreme hair angle changes occur on the vertex in a spiral or whorl pattern.
Luckily, Dr. Farooque is well-versed in performing the procedure, so you are confident about getting the best results. Men who lose hair in this area of the scalp experience extensive baldness and need a large number of grafts in one area. Some essential points to consider before going for a hair transplantation procedure at the clinic include:
You may need more than one session to cover the baldness in the area. As such, the doctor recommends patients less than 35 years to avoid going for the procedure as the crown area is bound to continue losing hair over time
If the crown and front areas of the head have extensive hair loss, the patient might need a mega-session (where more than 3000 grafts are implanted). Otherwise, the front, center, and crown area might appear unnatural or lack density if the patient goes for a single transplant session
A younger patient contemplating crown hair restoration might need to be in medical management to prevent further hair loss and reduce the number of transplant sessions he needs in the future.
Eyebrows & Eyelash Construction
The eyelashes and the eyebrows form an essential part of an individual's appearance. They also play an integral role in protecting the eyes from harm. The eyelashes, for example, protect the eyeball from irritants, stimulate the closing reflex, and defend the eye from trauma. Restore your eyelash and eyebrows with Fue Hair transplant.
On the other hand, the eyebrows protect the eyes from sweat by creating a barrier between the eyes and the eyelashes. All such features perform valuable functions. Eyebrows, and eyelash reconstruction helps restore the normal and healthy life of the patient.
Eyelash and eyebrow loss occur as a result of hereditary problems like congenital aplasia, dermatological diseases like thyroid disease, and psychological disease like trichotillomania. Traumas, burns, tattooing, or piercings may also cause eyebrow or eyelash loss.
Before performing hair transplant in Dubai for eyelash and eyebrow reconstruction, the doctor performs a thorough medical history check to determine the following:
- If the patient has undergone eyebrow/eyelid surgery in the past
- If conditions like alopecia areata and lupus should be fully controlled before proceeding with the hair transplant
- If the patient has a history of exuberant cicatricial formation. Such patients need to be handled with extreme caution
- If the patient is hypertensive
Mustaches & Beard Construction
Hair transplant in Dubai for mustache and beard construction is another procedure that has grown in popularity, given the recent beard craze. Some men develop poor facial hair growth due to injury, genetics, or an underlying medical reason. Luckily with Dr. Farooque's improved hair FUE technique, young men can grow mustache and beard without visible scarring or other side effects.
The procedure is similar to other hair transplant processes in that hair is harvested from the scalp and implanted on the patient’s chin. Once the transplant is complete, the doctor prescribes some post-surgery care instructions to facilitate the healing and growth of a permanent beard.
The chin heals pretty fast, and most men experience minimal or no discomfort. In fact, beard hair should start growing within three months. The new hair blends well with the rest of the hair, so it becomes impossible to identify a difference between natural and transplanted hair.
Burnt scalp cases
After acute management of life-threatening issues caused by burns, patients can address aesthetic concerns like hair loss. We provide hair transplant therapy to restore hair on burnt scalps to improve patients' quality of life and self-esteem.
While many patients prefer non-surgical options, we advocate exploring hair transplant methods like FUE and FUT as they produce superior results. Follicular Unit Transplant method, for example, is ideal for patients who want a more refined outcome than just hair restoration.
Before embarking on the transplantation process, the doctor examines the scar for maturity. A mature scar should be flat, soft, and supple. If the scar is still pink, it is likely to bleed when making incisions for inserting grafts.
The surgeon also examines the scalp elasticity as it affects the method of donor harvesting. Sometimes, there isn’t enough scalp laxity to remove a strip of donor’s hair required when using the FUT hair transplant method. As such, the doctor may settle for FUE when harvesting the hair.
If the patient needs other reconstructive surgical procedures performed, the doctor might involve a multi-disciplinary team to coordinate the prioritization of the hair restoration procedure. The procedure takes a minimum of 2-3 hours and sometimes extends to 12 hours; hence local anesthesia may be administered.
Non-Surgical Hair Loss Solution
We also provide non-surgical hair transplant solutions for patients who don't want to go under the knife. One of them is the PRP Mesotherapy. Read on to find out how we perform it and its efficacy:
PRP A Cell Mesotherapy
It is a new hair transplant technique that involves injecting one’s blood into the scalp, skin, or another area to introduce growth factors and stem cells. PRP Mesotherapy has mainly become a choice hair loss treatment method for patients looking for non-invasive treatment techniques.
It was introduced because the traditional technique yielded limited results that required a large number of treatments. Platelet-rich plasma is injected into the scalp to promote hair growth. Platelets contain protein growth factors that facilitate the healing process and a rapid repair of body tissues.
Studies show that a high concentration of PRP promotes hair growth as it accelerates the growth phase of the hair. At the clinic, Dr. Farooque uses and expert technique that ensures the procedure is pain-free and tailored to your needs. The method involves a three-step process:
- Blood collection: The doctor draws up to 20 ml of blood from a large vein in the elbow
- Centrifuge: The blood is spun in a centrifuge to separate the components and the platelet-rich plasma harvested
Injection: The activated cells are injected into the bald areas of the scalp to promote hair growth
Hair Transplant Techniques
FUE Hair Transplant
Follicular Unit Extraction is a surgical hair transplant technique that involves removing individual hair follicles from scalp and implanting them on the thinning or bald areas of the head. The whole procedure, i.e., from extraction to implantation, is performed manually by our skilled surgeon Dr. Farooque. FUE hair transplant in Dubai is ideal for:
- Patients whose hairline is growing backward
- People with bald hair
- Those with particle hair loss
How It Works
While the extent of treatment depends on an individual’s condition, the doctor follows a standard procedure when performing FUE:
The doctor first shaves off the donor site, cleanses, and administers a local numbing agent. He then uses one of the two extraction methods (blunt or sharp dissection) to remove the hair. The blunt punch dissection method uses a blunt tip to guide the follicular units into the lumen of the punch. The technique is ideal if the surgeon wants to achieve a deep level of dissection and reduce manipulation or force required during graft extraction.
Sharp punch dissection, on the other hand, limits the depth of insertion. The extraction technique is ideal when the surgeon wants to extract a more consistent graft and prevent follicle transection. The extraction process harvests 2400-2500 grafts from the donor site for implanting.
If the hair is being transplanted to small recipient areas like the eyebrows, the surgeon needs 150-200 grafts. As such, our doctor is cautious not to over-harvest the donor areas, which can cause the body to experience telogen effluvium (temporary hair loss).
FUE does not need large donor sites as FUT hair transplantation in Dubai. As such, the patient does not require a linear incision made at the back of the head. Also, the follicles are removed individually, only small punctures are created, and they are virtually invisible.
2. Canal Stage
Incisions are then made on the recipient site using fine needles or micro blades. The canal should be broad enough to provide adequate space for hair insertion. Additionally, the puncture sites should be made consistently to promote a realistic hair pattern.
The hair is then transplanted to the recipient site according to the number of hairs within each of the follicles. This placement maximizes coverage, density, and natural appearance of the thinning areas. Dr. Farooque exhibits great artistry and experience when performing this step.
Note the FUE is more time-consuming than FUT because the incisions are smaller and require great skill to create them. The procedure can last a couple of hours to extract 200 grafts or two days for mega-sessions that need 2500-3000 grafts. Additionally, there are restrictions to candidacy as patients are selected based on a fox test.
The tiny incisions heal after a few days (usually less than seven days) because the procedure does not involve suture removal. Also, you should expect new hair growth three months after the process, and significant growth occurs after six months.
Is FUE Non-Invasive?
Yes, the hair transplantation technique is minimally invasive as the surgeon uses a microscopic instrument (1 mm diameter) to extract the hair. As such, the donors heal fast without scarring.
Benefits of FUE Hair Transplantation
- Does not cause scarring
- Yields a natural look
- Fast recovery
- Does not cause pain during and after treatment
FUT Hair Transplant
FUT is a short form for the Follicular Unit Transplantation method. The technique involves extracting a patient’s hair in naturally occurring groups of 1-4 hairs known as follicular units from the back or the sides of the scalp to balding areas of the scalp using a linear strip.
The small follicular units enable the surgeon to transplant thousands of grafts within a single session, hence maximizing the impact of the technique. Before the follicular hair transplantation method was developed, surgeons removed large grafts in groups of 3-8 hairs. This method yielded an unnatural look as the follicular units would get damaged of broken up, affecting hair growth.
How Does it Work
The doctor begins by administering local anesthesia on the patient’s scalp then uses a strip of tissue from the donor site. Once extracted, the donor strip is cut into small follicular units and prepared for transplanting.
Microscopic dissection techniques are used to isolate the donor strip to avoid damaging or breaking follicular units. This is because the condition of the follicular units determines the density of the transplanted hair. The doctor then makes tiny incisions on the recipient site where the grafts need to be placed.
The positioning and arrangement of the follicular grafts determine the aesthetic quality of the hair transplant. Dr. Farooque boasts many years of experience in performing FUT hair transplant, so you are confident that he will perform the procedure correctly. He places the follicular units in this arrangement:
- Begins by placing a single hair unit in front of the hairline
- Follows it up with two hair units behind the hairline
- Then places three hairs behind the two units and so on.
Note that the arrangement differs on a case-by-case basis as it is based on the patient’s hair loss history. However, this arrangement should yield a natural-looking appearance.
Is it an Invasive Procedure?
FUT is an invasive procedure as it involves extracting hair using a strip. The technique also leaves a notably wide scar on the donor area. The hair also needs to be extracted from a wide area of skin, causing chronic pain or loss of sensation.
Benefits of FUT Hair Transplantation
- The procedure allows the extraction of up to 4000 follicle units in a single session
- FUT promotes follicle survival rate
- Best hair transplant method for people with extensive balding
- Ideal for patients who don’t want much disruption to their daily lives
Ultra-refined Hybrid FUE
Hair restoration procedures have evolved from the use of plugs, micro grafts to ultra-refined grafts. Just as the name, the technique involves using ultra-refined grafts during the transplantation procedure to improve the naturalness and fullness of the hair.
How does Ultra refined Hybrid FUE hair transplant work?
Microsurgical blades are used to make tinier graft incisions than ever before. The surgeon then inserts as many as 60 follicular unit grafts into the holes. As such, the graft density is twice as much as that of the standard FUE transplant procedure yielding a fuller and denser appearance after one surgical session.
Is Ultra refined Hybrid FUE hair transplant a non-invasive procedure
Yes, it is minimally invasive as tinier devices are used to make incisions and follicular implant units. It explains why the procedure requires a greater level of skill and attention. Smaller incisions require follicular unit grafts that are more closely dissected and trimmed using microscopes.
Benefits of Ultra-refined Hybrid FUE Hair Transplant
- Surgeons achieve great hair density in one surgical session
- Causes minimal trauma in the recipient area
- Rapid healing
- Transplanted hair adopts a natural direction and angle
- Minimal distortion in the transplanted area
